The brief

This curated selection of character designs highlights a versatile approach to illustration, showcasing a range of techniques from clean vector-style coloring to traditional ink line art. The collection spans several distinct visual aesthetics, including sharp geometric designs, retro-inspired costuming, organic creature forms, and detailed cross-hatched sketches.

Snapshot

This design set demonstrates strong fundamentals in anatomy, costume design, and character posture across different visual mediums. The collection includes an angular, high-contrast figure utilizing sharp shapes and a muted palette; a stylized hero character rendered with flat colors, geometric shading, and crisp linework; a full-color aquatic humanoid illustration that effectively uses depth and contrast; and a detailed black-and-white ink sketch focusing on textured linework and layered, utilitarian clothing. Together, these pieces showcase a broad creative range and a clean, expressive approach to character development.

Notes on the build

This collection of character sketches highlights a versatile approach to form, style, and visual execution developed over the years. Moving across different mediums, the ensemble focuses on how shape language, line weight, and color choice define a character's silhouette and presence. The pieces demonstrate an adaptable skillset capable of executing distinct aesthetics, from an angular, geometric concept with minimalist color blocks to a clean, flat-color graphic illustration. The work further expands into full-color digital character design utilizing organic shapes and high-contrast focal points, alongside a detailed black-and-white ink sketch that relies entirely on precise linework and deep shadows to build texture and depth. Taken together, this set serves as a clear demonstration of strong drawing fundamentals, creative range, and the ability to pivot seamlessly between loose, stylized concepts and highly detailed line art.
