The brief

For this unique episode of the web series LILcanthropy, the entire narrative unfolds directly on a computer screen. I designed a custom operating system interface from the ground up in Illustrator and used After Effects to animate the workspace, composing live-action performances directly into the digital environment.

Snapshot

This project demanded a heavy mix of vector asset design and precise motion pacing. By bridging high-fidelity UI creation in Illustrator with manual composition in After Effects, I built a desktop environment that functions as the episode's primary set. Live-action video plates were seamlessly layered into custom software layouts, with every cursor movement and application window carefully timed to drive the storytelling.

Notes on the build

In 2020, I collaborated with the director of the narrative web series LILcanthropy to build the visual foundation for Episode 6. The unique premise of this episode is that the entire story unfolds directly on the protagonist's computer screen, requiring a comprehensive user-interface design built entirely from scratch.

Using Adobe Illustrator, I architected a custom operating system interface, designing every element including application windows, system menus, a photo-manipulation tool, and video call layouts. The director provided the live-action video elements, which I manually composed and masked directly into the vector frames using Adobe After Effects. My core objective was to keyframe the UI animations, cursor movements, and window interactions to match the narrative beats and comedic timing of the performances, turning the desktop interface into the literal stage for the episode.
